“Mister” Is The Cutest Dog Name EVER

I used to work at a small museum near my hometown as a summer job. The job was wonderful, but sadly, I had to leave when I went to college.

Four years pass before I get offered a job in my field, which happens to be just blocks away from the museum, so at the first opportunity I can, I head down to the museum over lunch break to talk to my old friends and see what’s changed since I worked there.

The museum looks great! They’ve remodeled, and I’m browsing the new exhibits when the director comes up to me. She instantly recognizes me, we get talking about all the new developments, and she gives me an unofficial tour of all the changes since I last worked there.

As we get near her office, her dog hears our voices and comes out. Her dog was a rescue dog from an awful, abusive household, and she usually takes him to work with her because he gets anxious when they’re separated. He’s a sweet dog, if a bit skittish, but I don’t think anything of greeting him as he comes to sniff at my ankles.

Me: “Hey, Mister! Do you remember me?”

I bend down to give him a scratch on the chin, and he wags his tail happily.

Director: “He does remember you! I was going to warn you, but you were too fast!”

Me: *Still petting Mister* “About what?”

Director: *Sadly* “He’s not doing well in his old age. Ever since he went blind, he can get mean if people he doesn’t know touch him. I’ve had to keep him in the office so he doesn’t get in trouble. But he remembers you!”

We continued into her office to chat about more changes to the museum until I had to return to work, Mister roaming around our feet the entire time without a care in the world. He didn’t forget me after four years, and I’m not going to forget that happy little guy any time soon, either.
