Micromanager Meltdown
We had a lazy manager who spent most of his time checking email, gave in to crazy customer demands after staff had said no, talked down to any employee who was not a fellow manager, and didn’t know anything about what we sold. He made arbitrary micromanagement rules, including marking an X on the floor where we were to stand at attention when not helping a customer.
He left to go do the same job for our direct competitor.
A month later, all managers in that company were laid off and replaced by lower-paid staff. Shortly after that, the company went out of business.
