Maybe They Thought The Diamond Was Extra Rough?
I work in the call center for a company that sells a wide variety of items, including books and educational materials.
Caller: “I’m really upset! My order is empty!”
Me: “Can you give me the order number and explain the issue, please?”
Caller: “It’s [order number] and the issue… is that my order came through but it’s just an empty box! And to add insult to injury you sent me a d*** picture of what I was supposed to get!”
Me: “So I see here that you ordered an educational poster of precious gems, is that correct?”
Caller: “…educational poster?”
Me: “Yes. The 8×12 inch poster of gems and precious stones; that is the item that you ordered.”
Caller: “Oh… so… it’s not the actual stones?”
Me: “No, ma’am, it’s a poster that has images of them.”
Caller: “Well that’s very sneaky of you! On the website, it looks like you’re actually selling the stones!”
Me: “You mean the $5.99 listing on the website with the description ‘8×12 inch poster of gems and precious stones’?”
Caller: “It’s still sneaky! People will think they’re buying the stones!”
Me: “So for $5.99, people will think they are getting—” *Reviews the poster.* “—a diamond, a ruby, an emerald, a sapphire, a peridot, an aquamarine—”
Caller: “—Okay, okay! I get it! Smart-a**!” *Click.*
Okay, maybe I was a bit snarky but come on, people!
