Math Is Your Friend, Part 10

I am standing behind two girls in their late teens or early twenties in a clothing store. A promotion is going for “Buy One, Get One Half Off.” The girls, who are friends, both buy the same exact jacket.

Cashier: “We have a promotion for going. Would y’all like to put the purchases together to take advantage?”

Girls: “What is it?”

Cashier: “Buy one, get one half off.”

Girls: “Uh, uh… so what’s that?”

Cashier: “If you buy one at full price, you get the other for 50% off.”

Girls: “Uh, that’s too much math. We’ll just pay for our own.”
