Making You See Red (Lights)

(My dad is meeting my mom’s niece for the first time. Her name is Roxanne. She’s 11.)

Dad: “Roxanne! There’s a song about you. Did you know about that, darling?”

Roxanne: “Um, yeah…”

(Dad nods and starts singing it at dinner. Later, we learn that the song is about a prostitute named Roxanne!)

Roxanne: *agog* “Did your dad just call me a prostitute?”

(My uncle was not happy.)
