Making A Supposition

| Learning | March 15, 2016

(The teacher at my school does not take “what if” questions from anyone. This is the beginning of a new school year and we’re talking about the “surprise” fire drill that we all know is about to happen.)

Student: “What if the fire is in this classroom?”

Teacher: “I don’t take ‘what if’ questions. You know that, [Student].”

(The fire alarm goes off.)

Me: *as we’re walking to our “safe place” which happens to be a fence* “So suppose that we can’t get out of the school…”

Teacher: “Just go to the fence.”
