Making A Grocery Misjudgment
(My mom and I were putting away groceries and talking when she eventually makes a racist generalization. I tell her, in what I think is a polite manner, to cease making comments like that. Later, this occurs.)
Me: “Where do I put this?”
(She ignores me.)
Me: “Mom?”
Mom: “I’m not gonna help you.”
Me: *taken aback slightly* “What?”
Mom: “I’m mad at you. You were mean to me when I was just trying to have a normal conversation with you. Screw you!”
(She says more, but having already been put off by her reaction, I tune her out. Soon after, I’m attempting to put something in the fridge but run out of room.)
Mom: “Stop and reorganize that! Figure out where you’re gonna put things! You can’t just shove things in there!”
Me: “I thought you weren’t going to help me!”
(She said nothing for a little while.)
