Makes A Lot Of Cents
(When my mom was a child, she received an allowance of fifty cents a week. One day, her father got a little curious.)
Grandpa: “So, what do you do with this money, anyway?”
Mom: “There’s a bookstore downtown that sells books for fifty cents. The bus is twenty-five cents each way, which makes a dollar total. So every other week, when I have a dollar, I head over there and buy a new book.”
Grandpa: “…”
(From then on, she received a dollar a week.)
