Laptop Flop, Part 37
I work for a large electronics retail chain that offers a year of tech support with specific packages. A caller complains that their new laptop isn’t working.
Me: “Is there any error message that appears?”
Caller: “Yes, it says [Keyboard Error].”
Their specific model of keyboard reports this error if something has been spilled on it.
Me: “How much did you spill on it?”
Caller: “What? How did you… No… I didn’t…”
Me: “If you send in the laptop and we discover that something has spilled onto the keyboard, the result will be the same as you telling me now, only much more delayed.”
Caller: “It was only a drop of coffee…”
The laptop was a write-off.
