Lack Of Register Does Not Register, Part 23
We’re remodeling the store I work at right now, so we’ve been closed since Sunday. We’ve been telling people this was coming for a year. The last week we’ve been reminding customers every day.
There’s a huge dumpster in our parking lot, along with a forklift and two large shipping containers. There are 3 signs outside that say we are closed, one of which is eight feet long and bright red.
We’ve been chasing people out all week.
Yesterday, a couple of women came in, and we told them we were closed and one of them says:
Customer: “I can’t just buy one thing?”
Me: “We don’t have registers, ma’am.”
Customer: “Well then why are you open?”
Me: “We’re not.”
Customer: “Then why did you let us in?”
Me: “We didn’t.”
Both Customers: *Looking around, finally getting it, then looking at each other.* “Well then why are we here?”
Me: “I’ve been wanting to ask that since you got here.”
