(I’m walking down the school hallways with a few of my friends. One of my friends tells a joke with the punch line being lyrics from Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” After a few moments of silence…)

Me: *singing* “Never gonna give you up…”

Friend #1: “Never gonna let you down.”

Friend #2: “Never gonna run around and…”

All Of Us: “Desert you!”

Passing Student: “Never gonna make you cry!”

Teacher: “Never gonna say goodbye!”

Entire Hallway: “Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you!”

(Everyone immediately goes silent and keeps walking like nothing happened. A freshman student pokes her head out of her classroom.)

Freshman: “Huh… so ‘High School Musical’ was right…”
