Just A Physical (Education) Relationship

(My boyfriend and I went to the same high school. We are both outsiders and were not particularly popular with the teachers and our peers, so we spent lots of time together. Now, five years later, we’re online and discussing high school.)

Boyfriend: “…and I remember this one sports teacher who didn’t like me at all. I could never join her classes because of my weak lungs. So, one time, when I had to do yet another essay because I couldn’t join in, she just handed me half an assignment and b****ed me out when I asked her for instructions.”

Me: “Wait, was that [Teacher’s Name]? Short-haired and always in sportswear, no matter the time of the day?”

Boyfriend: “Yeah. Why?”

Me: “Well, she didn’t really like me either. I even broke her thumb once!”

Boyfriend: “…You what?”

Me: “Yeah. We had to do backflips while running up against the wall and I was really scared. So, she said she’d give me a little lift, but I did it all wrong and broke her thumb. She had a cast for weeks!”

Boyfriend: “I KNEW I had a reason for dating you!”
