Jewel Of Denial
A woman walks through the security scanner at the airport and immediately sets it off. It takes me half a second to look at her to realize why.
Me: “Ma’am, you need to remove all your jewelry.”
Customer: “Oh, I thought I’d be okay to wear it because I’m White.”
Me: “That… doesn’t change the fact that you can’t be wearing all that metal on you.”
Customer: “It’s not metal. It’s gold!”
Me: “Gold is a m—you know what, never mind. Please remove your jewelry and step through again.”
Customer: “But why?! I’m not a Muslim! I’m obviously not going to try anything!”
Me: “Ma’am, I’m not going to ask again.”
Customer: *Muttering and taking off her necklace and rings.* “This is letting the terrorists win, you know!”
