Jehovah’s Witless, Part 9

| Friendly | November 22, 2016

(I work with a couple of young, third-generation Jehovah’s Witnesses. They are great people to work with, and I admire the ethos of the JWs. However, I’m also very well versed in their theology and how it differs from mainstream Christian theology. When I get the random knock on the door, I manage to ask a lot of pointed questions that send them away nervously. After a couple times of this, I notice the obvious JW proselytizers deliberately skipping my house. Clearly word got around. But at one point, I moved into the house next door so the old one could be remodeled, and not long after that came a knock on the door. I opened the door to find a couple of JWs and one of them is my friend from work!)

Me: “Hey, [Coworker], how are you?”

Coworker: *looking suddenly very awkward* “Oh, hi. Um. How are you?”

Me: “Doing great. What’s up?”

Coworker: “Well, um, oh this is my father.” *we shake hands* “We’re out doing the, you know, the Jehovah’s Witness thing.”

Me: “Oh, cool.”

(Long pause.)

Me: “Well, see you at work tomorrow?”

Coworker: “Yes. See you.”
