It’s All Fund And Games Until It Isn’t

Many years ago, when my now-adult niece was about five, my sister took a job as a fundraiser for a wildlife agency in Idaho. This required her to attend hunting, fishing, and camping expos all over the West, where she would run booths and give presentations on why people should donate to her organization. She was very good at it.

Her success did not translate well on the home front. One day my niece’s teacher asked her to tell the class what her mommy did for a living.

Niece: “She goes to fancy hotels and gets men to give her money!”
