It’s A Good Thing They Weren’t Cooking Spotted Dick

My husband and I are casually lying on the couch watching TV. There is a ready meal in the oven that my husband has prepared.

Me: “Babe, I think your tea is burning in the oven.” *Tea = meal.*

Husband: “Okay, I’ll go check.”

He gets up and goes into the kitchen, closing the door behind him. I hear the oven open when I hear him laughing uncontrollably.

Me: “What’s so funny?!”

Husband: “I have a funny sausage!”

Me: “…What?!”

Silence.

Me: “Babe?”

Husband: “Come and see my funny sausage!”

Being slightly amused, (and also a little terrified at the thought of what he was implying) I get up and go in the kitchen to find his dinner, a toad in the hole (that’s pork sausages cooked in a Yorkshire pudding) with a rogue sausage that has somehow decided to cook in an…. upright position.

Us: *Laughing.*

Me: “Looks like the sausage was signalling for a good time.”
