It’s A Dog’s Life

(My two sons, aged six and eight, have two new puppies. I am woken up to the sound of my youngest son screaming downstairs.)

Six-Year-Old Son: *to his puppy* “Drop the slipper! Let go, you stubborn son of a gun! You are grounded! No food and treats for you today!”

Eight-Year-Old Son: “Do you really have to scream and be dramatic like that?”

Six-Year-Old Son: “Yes! Because finally, I get to do some yelling in this house! I’m tired of being the only one getting yelled at!” *to the puppies, sweetly* “Thank you, puppies! Thank you for changing my life!”
