It’s A Dog-Gone Conclusion, Part 3

(I am a good student, and have always done all of my work. I also have an especially good relationship with this teacher.)

Me: “Uh… Mr. [Teacher], I don’t have my homework today… My dog, uh, ate it.”

Teacher: “Seriously?”

Me: “Well, yeah… You don’t think I’d come up with a better excuse for not doing it?”

Teacher: *stares at me for a second* “Well… that’s true, I guess… I suppose I’ll give you a pass for today…”

Me: “Thanks.”

Teacher: “So, dogs really eat homework?”

Me: “Apparently!”

(It wasn’t an excuse. It really was the first and only time my dog took and chewed up my homework!)
