Coworker: “This is so stupid! [Manager] didn’t give me my birthday off!”
Me: “Oh, that’s annoying. When is it?”
Coworker: “Tomorrow.”
Me: “That’s kind of short notice, so I can understand. Still, maybe you could take another day next week or something? Have a delayed celebration?”
Coworker: “I asked for two weeks off.”
Me: “Two weeks?! Yeah, I can see why he said no.”
Coworker: “But it’s my birthday! I wanted to have a party!”
Me: “For two weeks?”
Coworker: “It’s a really big party!”
