It Makes No Cents To Order Food You Can’t Pay For
I’m a pizza delivery guy. I get to the customer’s place and knock on the door.
Me: “Hi. What’s the name on the order?”
Customer: “I don’t know. It was a stuffed crust and a drink.”
The order matches.
Me: “Okay. That’ll be $28.38.”
I hand him the drink. He pulls out $28 from a wad of cash and gives it to me.
Customer: “You got 38 cents?”
I told him no.
Customer: “Okay. I’ll go get you 38 cents.”
He doesn’t move and expects me to hand over the pizza.
Me: “Okay, I’ll give you the pizza when I get the 38 cents.”
Customer: “Come on, it’s just 38 cents.”
Me: “And I shouldn’t have to pay part of your order.”
Customer: “So imma have to report you for this.”
Me: “You can if you want.”
Customer: “What store did you come from?”
Me: “The one you ordered from. The store name is on the receipt.”
He walks inside out of sight. He then comes back outside and gets in my face.
Customer: “You better watch who you’re talking to. You’re the one bringing me the food.”
I don’t say anything and pull out the $28 he gave me, walk past him, throw his cash into the doorway, and walk away. I told him he could keep the drink, since he already set it down inside and I wasn’t going to try to get it back.
I get back to the store, told my boss what happened and that I want to blacklist him. She said okay, and we moved on.
