It Just Isn’t Worth It
I live in a mask mandate state. A lady comes up to my register.
Customer: “I need to check out right now!”
Of course, I ask why. Stupid me.
Customer: “It is way too unsafe to be near all these unmasked heathens! How dare you not enforce the mandates?!”
Me: “Have you read any news outside of the numbers or [illness] progression?”
She stared at me.
Me: “Too many people have been assaulted, harmed, and threatened for simply asking about masks. It’s not worth it for minimum-wage workers to be harmed that way.”
Customer: “Look. If you don’t have someone policing masks, I won’t be coming back!”
Me: “Read more news. Nobody is authorized to police that.”
Boy, did she leave mad!
