Ignorance Is Bliss

(My cat has taken to walking between me and my husband and meowing pitifully whenever we start to sound like we’re arguing. This is one such time.)

Me: “[Cat]! Married people argue all the time! It’s allowed!”

Husband: “Maybe that’s why so many people get divorced. They have small children who say, ‘Stop fighting! Love me instead!’ any time they fight, so they never resolve any of their issues.”

Me: “Oh, that’s probably right. At least now we know!”

Husband: “Yes. Now we can be aware of it, and think of a solution!”

Me: “Like not having kids!”

Husband: “I was thinking we’d just ignore them.”
