If You Thought You Were In Trouble Before…

I’m an EMT here. Our dispatcher got a call late one evening, a little voice on the line:

Caller: “My name’s Zack, I’m four years old, I’m in trouble.” *Click.*

Nobody answers a call back, so everybody gets sent, cops, fire department, us. Search and rescue are put on standby.

We get to the address and pound on the door. Half a second from booting it in, a lady in a house robe with her hair in a towel answers and is VERY puzzled as to why at least half of our small town’s first responders are on her doorstep.

We explain the call we got, and she gets this “oh, for f***s sake” expression and calls for her son. It’s Zack.

She had recently explained to him that if he’s ever in trouble or mommy won’t answer him (she’s diabetic and could go unresponsive), he should call 911. She had put him in a time-out. He called 911.
