A woman and her young teen daughter are at my checkout. I notice that they don’t actually have any items to check out.
Customer: “Can you let my daughter watch you work for a few minutes so she can see what her life will be like if she doesn’t study hard in school?”
Me: “She can watch how someone resists the urge to tell rude and disrespectful customers what she really thinks of them, sure!”
They did not stick around. The daughter laughed and gave me a thumbs-up, though! For what it’s worth, I’m a year away from graduating college.
