If He’s Toxic, The Poison Is Spreading

I am studying at a coffee shop and overhear the following conversation between two young women who sound like they are studying for some sort of professional exam.

Woman #1: “Ugh! Every time I try and go study, [Boyfriend] keeps texting to check on me. It’s all the time! It’s like he’s trying to catch me in a lie or something.”

Woman #2: “Oh, my God, why is he like that?”

Woman #1: “Well, last year when I told him I was studying was when I was hooking up with [Different Male Name]. So, I guess he thinks I’m doing that again.”

Woman #2: “Whatever. That was months ago; he should be over that by now. He’s just being toxic.”
