I Told You So!

The grocery store I work at is undergoing a complete and total reorganization. Aisles are changing, and we were all learning where everything was. Needless to say, it was chaos.

We were pretty busy, and I had a line of customers, but this customer decided to skip the line to ask me where something was. I don’t remember the exact item, but it was something like paper plates. Since I had a line of customers, I couldn’t leave to help her locate them.

Me: “I believe they are now on aisle seven.”

Before I can even get on my walkie to ask someone for sure, she storms off. She comes storming back a couple of minutes later.

Customer: “They aren’t there!”

A manager is now nearby.

Me: “Hey, [Manager], can you help this lady? She’s looking for the paper plates. I thought they were on seven, but she says they aren’t.”

Manager: *Looking confused* “Okay, maybe they are on eight. I’ll help you find them, ma’am.”

As they are about to walk away, she turns to me.

Customer: “You should know better than to tell someone where something is if you don’t actually know.”

She eventually comes back to check out, but she goes to another line. The manager comes back, leans in, and whispers to me:

Manager: “They were on aisle seven like you told her.”

HA! I told you so!
