I Don’t Work Here, Does Not Work Here, Part 24

, | Right | July 10, 2017

(I am in the completely different uniform of a different supermarket WITHOUT my name tag. I am clearly trying on shoes when another customer approaches.)

Customer: “Excuse me, can you tell me if you have any more [certain shoe type] out the back? There’s none on the shelf.”

Me: “I’m sorry, miss, but I don’t even work here. I work for [Other Supermarket]. I was just trying on some shoes myself. I can help take you to an employee here for them to check, but that’s it. Sorry.”

Customer: “You’re lying; I’m going to tell your manager about you and get you fired.”

Me: “Ma’am, with all due respect, if you’re willing to drive 40 minutes to go to [Store Location] to tell my manager that I didn’t serve you at a completely different type of store because I don’t work here, be my guest, by all means.”
