I AM The Inventory

I worked at a home improvement store as an overnight stocker. A customer approached me looking for a certain lawnmower that was on special.

Customer: “Sir, do you know if there are any more of these in the back?”

Me: “No, ma’am. We only received thirty and they all sold out this morning.”

Customer: “How can you be so sure you do not have anymore? Do you control inventory?”

I showed her my name badge that said, “Overnight stocker/inventory control,” on it.

Me: “As a matter of fact, ma’am, I do know the inventory since I’m one of the ones responsible for taking it.”

She walked off in a huff, but she was also red-faced and embarrassed.
