Hypocrisy Goes At Its Own Pace, Part 2

, , , | Right | January 3, 2021

I’m working a solo shift in my café when I get a sudden rush: at least six parties of two to four people, all wanting food and drinks, and several take-out customers. The last pair to arrive are two men who only order drinks.

I’m literally running around, making coffee with my right hand, working the register with my left hand, and chatting pleasantly while checking on the food. On one of my runs, the guys wave at me.

Customer: “Where are our drinks? It’s been ten minutes!

It hasn’t. I explain the situation to them, which is obvious because we have an open kitchen, but they decide to be whiny. Still, I just continue with the list of orders and bring them theirs as soon as it’s their turn.

Me: “Thank you for waiting; it’s been crazy!”

Customer: “Oh don’t worry; we see you working hard! Don’t let anyone rush you!”

Seriously?
