How To Re-Make Someone’s Day
The SNES classics are miniature versions of the original SNES, with a whole bunch of classic SNES games built in. Whenever we get a shipment in, they would fly off the shelves, so I was really surprised to see a customer wanting to return one.
Me: “What’s the reason for the return?”
Customer: “The graphics are f****** awful!”
Me: “Well, yeah, they’re old games.”
Customer: “But it just came out!”
Me: “Yeah, but the games built into it are the same games as before.”
Customer: “Then what’s the f****** point? I wanted them with better graphics!”
Me: “You expected to get twenty-one classic games remade… for eighty bucks?”
Customer: “I want my refund.”
I process the refund. The moment I do, I notice another customer has been hovering nearby.
Other Customer: “Can I buy that, now that it’s been returned? I’ve been wanting one for ages! All my childhood classics in one place!”
Me: “I can resell this to you if you give me time to process it.”
Customer: *To the other customer.* “Wait… you know these are the same old games, right?”
Other Customer: “Well… duh! That’s the whole point! Only an idiot would expect something new! It’s nostalgia! That’s why these things are so hard to find! They’re selling for almost double online!”
Customer: *Blank look.*
Other Customer: *To me.* “So… can I buy it? For the RRP?”
Me: “You certainly can!”
Customer: *Gives us a decent WTF face, and walks out in a huff.*
