How To Break Bad Grades

(The students in the class are each researching a type of commonly abused drug and writing a short story about it; we’re now sharing our projects in a kind of free-for-all gallery walk. While I was out of the room, the teacher had everyone write their name and topic on the board to make them easier to find. A few minutes in, she asks me:)

Teacher: “Hey, is yours up there? What was your drug that you did, so I can add it to the options?”

Me: “Oh, meth.”

Teacher: *loudly* “[My Name] has meth, everybody! If you wanna come and… Oh.”
