Hot For Hot Salsa
My made-to-order burrito is being prepared and I’ve asked for pico de gallo and corn salsa.
Employee #1: *Adds the pico* “And corn salsa?”
Me: “Yes, that’s correct: corn salsa.”
[Employee #1] puts on hot salsa, instead, and hands the burrito off to the next employee.
Employee #2: “Anything else?”
Me: “Yes, but I don’t want the hot salsa. I asked for corn salsa.”
[Employee #2] starts to add corn salsa.
Me: “Stop! I asked for pico de gallo and corn salsa. I don’t want the hot salsa; please remake my burrito!”
Employee #1: “You didn’t want hot salsa?”
Me: “I asked for corn salsa, not hot salsa. No, I don’t want the hot salsa!”
Employee #2: “So, what do you want us to do?”
Me: “Remake it without the hot salsa, please!”
[Employee #1] remakes the burrito and starts to reach for the hot salsa ladle.
Me: “No, Stop! No hot salsa!”
Employee #1: “Here, you make it!” *Passes it to [Employee #2]*
Employee #2: “So, just corn salsa?”
Me: “Pico de gallo and corn salsa, please.”
[Employee #2] adds the pico and corn salsa and immediately starts to wrap the burrito.
Me: “Wait. I also want cheese, sour cream, and lettuce!”
Employee #2: “Why didn’t you say so?”
Me: “You didn’t you ask!”
I do finally get my burrito prepared as I’ve requested. As I am paying, I hear the customer behind me in line.
Customer: “No, I don’t want hot salsa!”*
