A Pita Pizza Heater

(It’s common for me to mishear something the co-worker next to me says, because I have a slight hearing problem and am not very used to her accent. She also sometimes mishears me because she’s not used to mine. It’s been very cold lately.)

Coworker #1: “This heater is the best thing I ever got!”

Me: “Did you say ‘this pizza?'”

Coworker #1: “No, ‘heater.’ Did you hear ‘pita?'”

Me: “I heard ‘pizza.’ Is that what you said?”

Coworker #1: “Pita.”

Me: “Wait, did you say ‘pita’ to begin with? I thought you said ‘heater.'”

Coworker #1: “Heater.”

Me: “Okay, I heard ‘pizza.'”

Coworker #1: “Pita”?

Me: “I said ‘pizza.’ Is that what you heard?”

Coworker #2: *having listened to the entire thing* “Oh, my god!”
