He Walked A Mile In Someone Else’s Shoes And Just Kept Going
An older gentleman, very polite, wanders in with a shoebox that looks very well-worn.
Customer: “Hi there, I think there’s a defect in these shoes.”
Me: “Of course, what seems to be the issue?”
He opens the box and pulls out a pair of sneakers that have clearly been loved to death — soles worn through, fraying seams, the works.
Customer: “They’re starting to let water in when I walk through the grass in the morning.”
Me: “Sir, how long have you had these?”
Customer: “Oh, must be five years now. They’re my favorite pair. I wear them every day to walk my dog.”
I take a look at the receipt, he’s not exaggerating.
Me: “I see… and what would you like us to do?”
Customer: “Well… if possible, could you repair them?”
Me: “Unfortunately, sneakers don’t really come with a five-year warranty… but we do have the most recent versions of that same model on sale today.”
Customer: *Delighted.* “Perfect! I’ll just start breaking these in now. Let’s see if these ones outlast me this time!”
