He Is CEOut
The company I work for, while based out of my state, has many locations all over the country and is fairly well known as such. The location I work at has no special connection to our corporate office; we’re just another location. The phone rings and my coworker answers.
Coworker: “[Store] in [Location], how can I help you?”
Caller: “Hi, is the owner in?”
Coworker: “I’m sorry?”
Caller: “You know, the owner! Are they in right now?”
Coworker: “The owner… of [Company]?”
Caller: “Yeah!”
Coworker: “Um… no. No, they’re not.”
Caller: “Oh, okay.” *Hangs up*
Not only do we have no way of knowing what the CEO of [Company] is doing at any given moment, but even if we did, we as lowly retail workers would have no way of putting the caller in contact with them.
