Has No Reservations About Making Pointless Reservations

(The coffee shop where I work sometimes takes phone orders, though there is no official network for ordering ahead of time. These calls tend to be for large orders or people in a rush. It should be noted that you cannot pay over the phone, so you must still wait in line to pay.)

Me: *answering* “[Coffee Shop], this is [My Name] speaking. How can I help you?

Customer: “Hi. I’d like to place a phone order.”

Me: “Of course. What can we get for you today?”

Customer: “I’ll need one medium coffee. No room.”

(I was confused, as this item takes literally ten seconds to procure in the store, but obliged. He later came in and asked for his reserved coffee. The employee on register poured one normally from the pot, and the man seemed satisfied.)
