(I am in French class. We have just finished an exam, so we are just sitting, talking with the teacher for the last 20 minutes of class. We are discussing our hall pass: a sailor’s hat.)
Student #1: “Why can’t our pass be smaller?”
Teacher: “It’s fun! Why would you want to carry something when you could wear it?”
Student #1: “But I want to put it in my pocket!”
(The “I” conjugation for “to wear” is “porte.”)
Teacher: “But it’s Porte-able!”
(It took a second for it to sink in, but once it did, groans and laughter erupted from the class.)
