(I am currently teaching a lesson about weathering. Each group of students is reading a different article. One group is reading about how ice and water affect weathering.)
Student #1: *reading from article* “In addition, liquid water plays a role in—”
Student #2: “Liquid water?”
Me: “Yes. Liquid water. As opposed to solid water or gaseous water.”
Student #2: *with wide eyes and mouth agape* “There’s SOLID water?!”
(I swear you could hear my eyes rolling as the rest of the class shouted at him.)
