Good Service Is Not On The Menu

(I’m a twenty-five-year-old woman but am admittedly rather short. On this day I’m getting dinner with both of my parents and we are dressed casually.)

Hostess: *escorting us to our seats with menus, she turns to me* “Do you want a kid’s menu?”

(I can only stare at her in disbelief as I know this restaurant stops children’s menus at twelve years old and though I’m short, I’m a touch top heavy and obviously well past puberty. After an awkward moment…)

Me: “No.”

Hostess: *clearly flustered* “Okay, then, your waitress will be with you in a moment.” *drops menus and leaves quickly*

Me: *looks at menus* “She didn’t even bring enough menus no matter what I said…”
