Getting Owned By The Owner, Part 28

I used to own a store. I’m at the register, watching TV when a customer comes up.

Customer: “I want a refund on this.”

Me: “This is a $200 item; do you have a receipt?”

Customer: “Listen, I’ve known the owner of this store for over a decade, do not make me call him.”

Me: “Well if you know him, please call him.”

She actually called the store number (it’s written pretty prominently outside). I answer my cell that has strangely begun ringing and speak into it without breaking eye contact with the customer.

Me: “No refunds without a receipt.”

She looks at me with wide eyes.

Me: “Ma’am, I am the owner; I opened this shop a couple of years ago.”

She walks out muttering about reporting me to Yelp.
