Getting A Pizza The Action

, , , , , , | Working | May 29, 2026

Our team has worked overtime to reach a very ambitious sales target, and while we’re happy we achieved it, we’re all very tired. Our boss comes into the office the day after we hit the goal with two pizza boxes.

Boss: “Thanks to all your efforts, we posted a million in sales this month for the first time in the company’s history! So, I got you all this!”

None of us looked too enthusiastic at the sight of two average-sized pizzas as our ‘reward’ for almost a hundred extra work hours over the last six weeks and all the seven-day work weeks.

Coworker: “A pizza party? Really, [Boss]? You’re like a walking meme.”

Boss: “I bet you’re really gonna love the flavor!”

He says it in such a strange way that we’re now intrigued. How good can a pizza be?

Coworker: *Opening the pizza box, away from my field of view.* “You… crazy son of a b****!”

Me: “What is it?!”

I run around, along with several of my other coworkers, to see that, inside the pizza box, a series of envelopes has been arranged in a circle, each one with our name on it. I grab the envelope with my name on it, and inside is a check made out to me.

Boss: “Those are your percentages. You all earned them! Well done!”

It was enough to cover a few months of rent AND buy me a gaming console and a few games! Definitely better than pizza!

Coworker: “Why do I still smell pizza!”

Boss: “Oh, the second box actually contains pizza. They wouldn’t let me just leave with an empty box for my… uh… prank.”

Coworker: “A single eight-slice pizza for a team of twelve people, [Boss]? Really? People are going to think you’re cheap!”

He ordered six pizzas for lunch, so we actually DID have a pizza party. It was a great day.
