Get Off Your High Horse, Princess

(I’m playing with my friend’s four-year-old daughter. We are playing with a princess castle with three princess dolls and a toy horse.)

Me: “So, which princess can I be? May I be Snow White?”

Little Girl: “No. I’m Snow White.”

Me: “May I be Cinderella?”

Little Girl: “No. I’m Snow White, Cinderella, AND Aurora.”

Me: “Then who will I be?”

Little Girl: “The horse.”

Me: *teasing playfully* “The horse! You mean I can’t be a princess at all? I have to be the horse?!”

Little Girl: *thoughtfully* “It’s more like a pony.”
