Get Him To The Salon On Time
(I have just proposed to my fiancé. Her mother insists that I ask her father’s permission. As I walk in, he is reading the newspaper.)
Me: “Hi, Mr. [Name]. Do you have a moment? I’d like to speak with you.”
Dad: *still reading* “Okay.”
Me: “Well, your daughter and I have been dating for several years now, and we feel that we’re ready to make our relationship official. I’d like to ask you for your daughter’s hand in marriage.”
Dad: *glancing over the paper* “So, you want to get married?”
Me: *clearing throat* “Yes, we do.”
Dad: “Today?”
Me: *startled* “What? No… no, not today. Next year.”
Dad: *back to reading the paper* “So, I have time to get a haircut?”
Me: *confused* “Ah… yes.”
Dad: “Okay. Let me know.”
Me: *turning to leave* “Sure… ah, thanks…”
