Games Of Future Past

(My best friend, despite loving video games, has very little understanding of any technology more advanced than a refrigerator. We’re discussing a particular video game for the 3DS.)

Me: “I saw that it was a physics-based puzzle game where you play as a puddle of water and thought of you, so I bought it.”

Friend: “Okay, but how the h*** do you play as a puddle of water?”

Me: “Using the gyroscope inside the system.”

Friend: “Gyro-what now?”

Me: “It’s basically a motion sensor control that tracks the system’s movement and orientation. It also keeps track of things like how many steps you’ve taken to earn coins.”

Friend: *awed* “Wow.”

Me: “I know, right? Technology.”

Friend: “The future is here.”

Me: “The future has been here since like 2011.”

Friend: “Shh.”
