Formulaic Bad Language

(We’re in chemistry class, and are doing equations with formula units. Since that’s a little long to write out and say, most of the time we abbreviate to ‘f.u.’, which looks fine in writing.)
Teacher: “Okay, [Student], what did you get for problem three?”
Student: “37.2.”
Teacher: “37.2 what?”
Student: “F.U.”
Teacher: “…”
