First Day Job Exposure

It’s my first day as a floor manager in a large clothing store. I’m being given a walking tour by the store manager.

Manager: “So, most of the time it’s dealing with refunds and expired coupon overrides. Sometimes you’ll get the occasional weirdo.”

As if on cue, another employee comes rushing over.

Other Employee: “[Manager], can you come and speak to this guy in the fitting rooms? Well… I mean, a guy who refuses to use the fitting rooms?”

Manager: “Is it another exposure situation?”

Other Employee: “Yeah, he’s saying ‘trying things on should be free-range’.”

Manager: *To me.* “You wanna come see a crazy dude in underwear on your first day?”

Me: “Uh… maybe—”

Other Employee: “He’s not wearing underwear.”

Me: “—not.”
