First Course Is The Loneliest Number

(There is only one carton of ice cream left. After a fierce battle, I have won the right to dish up a bowl for myself before my brother gets any. My brother can and usually does take up to 40 minutes to eat.)

Brother: “What does it feel like to be so slow serving yourself?”

Me: “What does it feel like to be so slow eating?”

Brother: “I don’t know. I have no experience with eating at a faster pace with which to judge.”

Me: “Let me try again. What does it feel like to still be eating the first part of your meal, when everyone else has finished dessert?”

Brother: “Lonely…”
