Finding The Comforter Provided Little Comfort

I was working the late shift, so no manager was around, and it was only me at the front desk. I was minding my own business when this lady came to the front with her daughter, already with an attitude. I haven’t even said anything to her yet.

Guest: “The housekeepers took my daughter’s comforter.”

I took a pen and paper and asked her:

Me: “When did you notice that it’s not in the room anymore?”

She paused, looked at me, and said:

Guest: “Eh… today?”

Like I’m supposed to know that. Anyways, she explained how it looks, etc., with an attitude so bad that even her daughter said:

Daughter: “Please, Mom…”

The guest then looked at me and said:

Guest: “Go look for it now, they took it.”

I was still smiling at her and said:

Me: “I’m sorry, I’m here by myself, but as soon as I have time, I will definitely do so.”

She did not like that response and looked at me as if I were the most disgusting being she had ever seen.

About ten minutes later, she sends her daughter to tell me:

Daughter: “The comforter was in the closet.”

She was probably embarrassed that she accused Housekeeping of stealing before checking the room.

Me: “Oh, that’s great, but please let her know that she should not make such quick accusations.”

Five minutes later, the guest came back and yelled at me like crazy.

Guest: “How dare you tell my daughter that I said Housekeeping stole the comforter?!”

Me: “I’m sorry, but that is exactly what you said.”

She tried to make me say things to her, offend her, whatever. But I didn’t give her that. She then continued:

Guest: “You’re unprofessional. You’ll see what you get for being like this.”

Me: “Have a good night.” *Smiling.*

And I ended the conversation. She left.

I immediately told my manager everything (she is awesome, by the way). 

The next day, my manager told me that this lady filmed me without my knowledge and showed it to management and the housekeepers! She tried to get them to fire me. She said to them that she never said that they stole from her and made me the bad person. Luckily, management was on my side and did not give her what she wanted.
