Fast Pass Holders And Hypocrites This Way

| Orlando, FL, USA | Friendly | May 27, 2017

(I am at a big theme park with my family. We go every once in a while and are waiting in line for a kiddie coaster to relive some nostalgia. The line’s backed up to the point that they’ve set up extra outside the constructed line and it gets a little wide and crowded so you have to be aware of where you are in the order. I notice I’m faced with a gaudy leopard print shirt that wasn’t there five minutes ago. I like to people watch and this woman was definitely not in front of us before.)

Brother: *softly* “I think that woman just cut in front of us when we weren’t paying attention.”

Me: “Yeah, I thought something was up but I didn’t wanna say anything.”

Brother: “Should we just… slip back in front of her at a wide turn to avoid an altercation?”

(I am nervous about it, but we do, since she has an obnoxious air about her. We are young teens, and we decide between the two of us that she was DEFINITELY not there before. Her son notices. Yikes.)

Son: “Were those people in front of us before?”

Woman: *easily loud enough for us and probably a few people in front and behind the four of us as well to hear* “No, they were not. People like that just like to cut in line because they don’t care about anyone but themselves, honey.”

(She went on for about five minutes about what horrible, selfish line-cutters we were and never to be like us when SHE cut in front of US! I couldn’t believe the nerve this woman had. I kinda hope she wandered in front of us without realizing so that kid isn’t being raised by such a hypocrite.)

    So say something back.

” it gets a little wide and crowded so you have to be aware of where you are in the order” Maybe she DID wander without realizing. It was you who chose to be in the wrong. And being petty about it.

    • Jonathon Side

And making a loud and obvious scene for over five minutes without once speaking directly to the OP isn’t petty?

      • Sandy Pham

Did I say it isn’t? Please quote.

        • Jonathon Side

Did i say you did? Since you’re so eager to rush to judgment of OP, I was curious how far it went. That’s why it was phrased as a question.

          • Sandy Pham

            So you’re OP?

          • Jonathon Side

So you’re the lady in the leopard print shirt?

          • Sandy Pham

You haven’t answered my question, you should answer other people question before asking another one. That’s politeness. Since you’re so eager to talk about manner, I’m surprised you didn’t know that. Or did you know but chose to ignore politeness and manners?

Anyway, I’ll make it clear once and for all. Did Op once speaking directly to the other lady? No? And did the lady come here to complaint, like Op did? No? So is it correct to say OP petty? Yes.

I’m done with my judgement on OP, You have all your right to make any judgement on that other lady, unlike you I won’t question that.

“Actually we WERE in front of you before when YOU cut in front of us. No one could forget such a tasteless blouse as the one you’re wearing.”

And that would have probably started a fight and gotten both parties ejected from the park. When that happens, nobody wins, but the kids are the surefire losers.

      • Kitty

If anything, it’ll make the kid realize to not go anywhere with their parent again.

        • Atlessa

Meaning they will never go anywhere fun again for the next 6 or so years.

I really don’t think that is fair to the kid… Has it hard enough with such bad parents.

  • Andrew Getting

Not sure picking a fight would have helped conditions.

  • grmrsan

Oh, she knew. You don’t act that loud and obnoxious in front of an audience without knowing ahead if time what you are planning. It’s the classic scam technique.

  • Flami

She definitely knew what she was doing. She was deflecting blame onto you so she wouldn’t be the bad guy.

  • Noinipo

There’s also the possibility that she and her kid were further up and had some other people pass them until they were just in front of you.

    • heymoe2001

I was thinking either that or the kids had inadvertently cut someone else in line and got behind these people.

  • Carolyn Foot

Am I the only one who thinks maybe her son/rest of her family was holding her spot, and she left to grab something and slipped back in without OP and his brother realising?

    • Kristen

I had a family do that, with 10 peo

      • Harold George Wagner III

        what is a peo

        • Kristen

          People.

I cannot type on a smart device, at all.

  • Jackie Fauxe

I don’t think any of us can know what really went down.

  • bahknee

I would have laughed if the ride got stuck with the line cutters.

  • Bethany Lieflijk

    “You’re cut. You’re cut.”

  • Kitty

“Funny, I could’ve sworn I would have realized that a rhino dressed in leopard print was in front of us for longer than the 5 minutes I recall.” And I’m not using rhino in the assumption that she’s fat, but that rhinos tend to push and whomp their way around.

  • Kristen

Grow a spine and speak up.

  • Kali Ravel

It’s totally possible she didn’t realise she cut in front of you; why not start by pointing that out?

  • beacon80

My friends were waiting in line for Comic-Con at one point (back when you picked up your badges on site). Some people cut in front of us during a switchback. My friend immediately spoke up.
Friend: Excuse me, I think you just cut.
Cutter: No, we were always here.
Friend: Funny. I think I would have noticed if someone was standing between me and my girlfriend.
(Yes, they had unwittingly cut into the middle of our group)
