Every Flavor Beans

(My friends are boyfriend and girlfriend. I have gone to their place and we have decided to bake a lemon meringue pie. The girlfriend is an avid baker and wants to open her own bakery with me helping, whilst the boyfriend doesn’t know a lot about baking. We have just finished the pastry part, which involves using baking beans – which are ceramic/clay balls used to weigh down the pastry so it cooks properly; they don’t look or feel like beans. The boyfriend picks one up and goes to eat it.)

Girlfriend: “What are you doing?”

Boyfriend: “I was gonna eat it. They’re beans. I like beans and you have lots.”

Me: “They’re ceramic.”

Boyfriend: *pauses* “Can I eat it?”

Girlfriend: “Do you know what ceramic means?”

Boyfriend: “… Tasty?”
